But I feel it's better if you do it instead of a patch. Originally posted by Evan_:Sure that port could be turned into an airlock. Hopefully further documentation on the editor would help. Maybe there's some particular technical limitation that this redundancy is getting around, but so far I don't know what to make of the docking port. It also has a section for "Wiring" which appears unusad and redundant with the "Connection Pannel" section. It's a "Docking Hatch" with a "Docking Port" segment attached to it. The only thing I can figure is the docking port is classed as a generally non-interactive object the same way air ducts and wall segments are. It has a Connection Pannel which is set to NOT locked and YES allow in-game editing, with a "screwdriver" prerequisite. Sloppy solution in my book, making a visible thing unclickable!įor some odd reason, docking ports are not interactive in-game, despite being set to be interactive in the editor. Originally posted by Evan_:I wanted to say it's also an Engineer's entrance, but the docking port is unusable, so you can't just wire it open from outside. Well, if that's the case then why are there bot pathing lines crossing through the hatch as though it can open? Why is it even there? Why not slap a button in there somewhere, or is the danger of flooding the sub on accident too great? It's almost 5 AM and I've been at this for some time so I may be missing a few steps, but I still don't get it? what's the deal with that thing? Neither has data connections to a device the crew can manipulate, meaning that the hatch effectively cannot be open, except I guess by brute force. Well, and power, but I'm referring to data lines here. The docking ring itself is also connected to one thing - the hatch. Indeed, the bottom hatch is only connected to one thing - the docking ring. Complex, but I knew what to look for.Įxcept the bottom hatch isn't actually connected to the nav console. I'm still not sure of the exact wiring, but the long and short of it is the Nav Console sends power along a signal wire and then logic blocks manage docking and undocking, as well as opening and closing the actual sealed hatch. I knew what the top docking hatch was, so I went there trying to figure out how it works, and the mess of logic blocks that power it. I've never any upward-facing docking ports in the game, but maybe I just haven't gotten far enough.īut it bugged me, so I dove into the Submarine Editor. While I couldn't find any information about it, I did find people trash-talking each other over being unable to tell a docking hatch from an EVA hatch, so I went looking and - sure enough - there is indeed a docking ring at the bottom hatch. Why is there a seemingly inoperable hatch on the bottom of the Orca submarine? I apologise if this question has been answered already - it seems fairly obvious, but I can't find an answer to it.
